Tonight, the Seattle School Board voted 7-0 to terminate Superintendent Maria Goodloe-Johnson and CFO Don Kennedy. As I am sure most local people are aware, scandal has been afoot in the school district over nearly $2 million in “lost” taxpayer money, and this is supposedly the cure.
Like most cures, it will not be cheap.
Since she was fired without cause, Goodloe-Johnson is entitled under her contract to severance pay of $264,000, a sum equal to one-year’s salary. It’s good pay, if you can get it.
