Live From The 2011 Seattle Zombie Walk

Update July 3, 2011: It appears to be official. Seattle once again broke the world record yesterday with 4,522 zombies eclipsing New Jersey by roughly 400 zombies.

The Zombie Walk is going down right now. I am sending these shots up live from the event.

4,520 Zombies were in attendance, Guiness will confirm whether this event beat New Jersey’s current world record of 4,093 zombies.

A video of the Seattle Zombie Walk is here: http://www.seattlerex.com/2011-seattle-zombie-walk-video/

the “samurai warriors?” photos are people in costume as bounty hunters from star wars.

And in other news, unemployment sits at 9.1% and almost 50 million Americans collect food stamps.

what a bunch of morons…i’m surprised these idiots caught your attention Rex, you being the anti-superfluous and such… how is this crowd any different from the walmart retards, or the sports/reality show fanatics who yell at their tvs? i guess i think it all comes down to the fact that these creatures are part of the 90% brain dead society and as such we should embrace and witness their shenanigans just as we do when going to the zoo to watch monkeys prancing around their cages..

I think this may be too extreme. You can’t rage against the machine or be depressed 100% of the time and live past 30.

Respites from reality are all that keep a shotgun out of the mouths of most intelligent people. I don’t think one-off events like this show a lack of compassion or understanding of the world’s greater issues as they don’t masquerade as social cause. They are unabashedly stupid. I can respect that. It’s public performance art, and not some vegetative beer-swilling spectator hypnosis practiced by billions of sports fans worldwide who would no sooner get off their ass and do something than admit that the invisible man in the clouds has no interest in watching them take a shit.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with forgetting the serious issues we face and participating in abject escapism sometimes. To the contrary, I imagine that it’s absolutely essential for human mental health.

It’s either this kind of stuff, religion, or hardcore drug abuse.

Events like the Zombie Walk are almost certainly the least destructive of the three.

Interesting, Rex. I don’t disagree with you at all regarding the need to find escapes from reality. I myself indulge in such to survive: i have season tickets to watch the BlueJays in Toronto, and I enjoy watching my favorite hockey and soccer teams to get a momentary high from the lowes of life..
However, I still maintain that these zombie morons are no different from the white trash crowds at your avg walmarts or the hiphop gangstas who barely know how to read, etc.

I hear you, but the Fremont Zombies are anything but white trash. Seattle honkies are mostly educated and reasonably affluent. The zombies are a bunch of geeks, and I say that in a flattering way. I don’t even think there is a Walmart in Seattle. If there is, I don’t know where it’s located.

The Zombie Walk events in Raleigh that I have attended are not really the WalMart crowd. It is hipsters, horror movie fans, and mainly a younger crowd having a good time. Of course those walks were a few hundred people and not a crowd this size.

There is a lot of creativity that goes into the costumes and people take a lot of pride in their work. Some groups in the main horde divide off to do their own thing, while remaining part of the collective zombie march.

The walks I know of also try and support local businesses and bring spectators to downtown areas that are normally not known to be hot spots. I really have a hard time seeing how someone could look down on the events.

I happen to have taken part in this event. I’m going to assure you right now that we are in fact not “retards” or “brain dead”. We simply wanted to have a bit of fun, and blow New Jersey out of the water. This was a competition.
I suppose you think that one has to be up tight all the time, but I’m here to tell you that not everyone is going to agree with you. People want to have fun. And I’m surprised by how stupid you are being about this. People like you aren’t going stop the things we do. So.. give it up.

This is the dumbest thing i have ever seen. Stupid. Seattle is a bunch of geeks. Come back to vegas! At least here we have hot chicks and 24 hour room service.

    • fellowzombieite /

ohhhh trust me…. Seattle has some pretty sexy ass women as well. And most every place has 24 hour room service you dunder head. And why are you even commenting if you live in Vegas? GTFO.

About as stupid as 50,000 people getting together in one place to cheer others on and then exclaiming “we won” on the way out of the stadium.

Or marve as stupid as sitting in front of your TV for four hours watching cars drive in circles. God forbid people want to go out and have some fun at what amounts to a giant themed costume party.

I bet you hate parades too.

    And puppies.
