Well, it’s over. The upgrades are complete, and Seattle Rex is back and badder than ever. Especially the second part.
While most Americans spent the weekend honoring our fallen heroes by eating hamburgers, drinking beer, and sitting in gridlocked traffic, I took the opportunity to upgrade hardware, optimize Apache, and edit DNS zone files.
Site tweaks will continue for another week or so, but the scheduled downtime is over (note that I said “scheduled”).
You’ll be thrilled to know that the entire website now runs entirely from SSD/RAM drives, and even though you probably won’t notice any difference while casually browsing around, believe me when I tell you that back end queries are faster than greased weasel shit.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to bamboozle you with highly-technical terminology.
In any event, step back from the ledge, put away the razorblade, and open the garage door.
Settle Rex is back online, and life is once again worth living.
