Today, at about 11am, a group of men ran through the Fremont neighborhood with pumpkins on their head … and no clothes.
Why?
I honestly have no idea. There are a half-dozen “naked” events every year in this town, and I’ve yet to fully grasp the fascination with this particular form of expression. Different strokes, though. I go out and cover these events because they’re unique to Seattle and the local media refuses to show them uncensored. Given the number of views these things get, there is also a clear public interest in streaking as an art form.
The men ran around “Downtown” Fremont with their wieners flapping about, and they were greeted with a overwhelmingly positive and bemused reaction from bystanders. It put a smile on people’s faces, so in that respect, I suppose I “get it” on some level.
The main problem I have with Seattle’s streaking events is not that they occur, it is that they are male-dominated. As I have ranted about before, the abundance of lumber in the nude bikes/runs is a buzzkill for yours truly. I feel that discrimination against women in the streaking culture is of grave concern to all of us who value equality and diversity. The underrepresentation of young, attractive women is of particular concern.
From this point forward, I will make it my life’s goal to correct this injustice. Such an affront to humanity cannot be allowed to stand in a progressive culture like our own.
Enlightened women of Seattle with a C cup or greater, I invite you to join me. Rise up against chauvinism, shed your clothing, and take to the streets en-masse! You’ve come a long way, baby, and this is no time to cede your rights to the phallocentric misogynist pumpkin heads of Fremont.

Absolutely disgusting, there was a young girl there and they just ran past her totally naked. dont you have any laws in seatlle?
1) It appears the adult with the child was laughing and taking pictures.
2) It’s only a penis, they occur in nature, and this did not appear to be a sexual showing of nudity.
I wish I could have been there, either as a observed, or even better as a participant.
