Not Criminal?

Not long ago, the above video went somewhat viral.

It shows a Seattle cop kicking a kid in the head while exclaiming “I will beat the Mexican piss out of you, homey!”.

As a person who doesn’t believe in “hate speech” laws, I found the officer’s words to be unprofessional, but certainly not criminal.

I changed my mind, however, when I saw the same officer kick the kid in the head. I mean, words can’t hurt you, but sticks, stones, and boots will.

Like most people, I assumed that, once the video aired, the piss cop would be brought up on charges.

Apparently, as cynical as I am, I am not cynical enough …

The investigation has been completed, and City Attorney Pete Holmes has ruled:

“Though the incident was marred by an unacceptable and unnecessary racist comment, our office concludes that neither officer’s conduct was criminal, and I decline to file misdemeanor charges,” Holmes said in a statement Tuesday.

Yes, you read correctly.

Within the City Limits of Seattle, it has officially been ruled “not criminal” to kick some one in the head while they are laying face-down on the sidewalk.

Really?

I mean … really?

Does this mean that, as retribution, the Mexican kid can find the cop and kick him in the head?

Sure, it may be a vindictive and petty thing to do, but it certainly wouldn’t be criminal. After exacting his revenge on Piss Cop, Mexican Homey would be allowed to walk away a free man.

Right?

Personally, I am going to keep a copy of this video and ruling. Just in case I am ever unfortunate enough to be charged with assault.

I’m completely serious.

I’ll just use the Mexican Piss Defense.

“Your honor, in December of 2010, City Attorney Pete Holmes ruled that violence up to and including the kicking of someone’s cranium is not criminal in the City of Seattle, and I request equal protection under the law.”

If he finds me guilty anyway, I suppose I could sue the city for discrimination.

If you think about it, anyone that has ever been convicted of simple assault can now sue the city for discrimination.

I don’t think Big Meat Pete has thought this one through.
