New York City, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Seattle … I’ve been to the Gay Pride Parade and associated “Dyke” events every year for the past 20 years, and for the most part I enjoy them. Even though I have some ideological differences with some of the groups, I generally find the Gay/Dyke/Whatever Pride parades to be among the most entertaining, and I do support unfettered gay rights, including gay marriage.
That being said, I do feel my interest waning with each successive year as the “been there, done that” vibe grows stronger and stronger. Twenty is a lot of gay pride events, and I’ve seen just about all there is to see at this point. Especially after half a dozen New York spectacles. I’ve becoming a tough, jaded crowd that bores easily.
Also, I could do without some of the “breeder” hatred. I got to listen to one poem today where the antagonist male buttfucked his girlfriend as a marriage proposal, who then proceeded to live sadly-ever-after with 2.5 kids in the hellacious bond that is heterosexual marriage, but I’ve learned to just roll my eyes. It’s kind of sad when the stereotypes become the stereotypers, but hey, it’s their day. If I don’t like it, I don’t have to go.
I did go, though, and I generally enjoyed the Dyke March vibe. They had a couple of decent female rappers, and I got to see boobs even though the boobs weren’t meant for me.
Heh, I guess I got the last laugh after all. Score one for the evil buttfucking heterosexual breeders.
If you missed the event, here are some excerpts, including the full march which seemed to draw a decent-sized contingent:

Rock on Seattle Dykes.

I’ve been in Seattle a long time. I remember the “old” days when this event would draw protestors from “The Religious Right”. Things could get ugly. My how times have changed.
