I love the Broadway Farmer’s Market.
Who doesn’t?
That being said, if I had to choose between the market, which operates one day per week … and the streetcar, which will operate every day … well, let’s just say that I’m going to need to up my V8 consumption to compensate for the lack of fresh produce.
While I sympathize with the plight of the market, I do think the vendors need to realize why the disruption is occurring. They need to weigh the inconvenience of the construction against the net benefit to the community, and they should probably not whine too loud about the effect it will have. After all, most of them do not live here. They come in to sell us stuff, and we’re sure glad they do, but I’m not personally calling anyone and saying anything that might delay the arrival of this streetcar by even a single day.
Also, when all is said and done, the streetcar will benefit the market merchants as much as it does local residents.
Don’t kick the gift horse in the balls, folks.
… is my response to the complaint sign.

It is no “Medium Large Over 4 1/2′”, but it is a nice sign.
Road construction and other public infrastructure projects do impact businesses, although being that short-sighted is unfortunate. As you said, it will soon be easier for more people to visit.
