Weather Update From Downtown Seattle

Worst Snow Storm Ever

Worst Snow Storm Ever

Got a tweet from a weather forecaster at 11am which read something along the lines of “Seattle will start seeing snow withing the next 2 hours if not sooner”, so at noon (which I figured would be prime time), I left my building — camera in-hand.

Well, it’s 2pm and I just got done walking from Downtown to Belltown to South Lake Union to Capitol Hill to First Hill, and back Downtown.

My feet are tired, but as for snow …

Absolutely nothing. Not even a single flake. Hell, the sun’s even out.

I’m disappointed.

Again.

For what it’s worth, I got up at 4am just to catch the beginning of this “storm”.

Heh.

Let the backtracking begin (“Hey, we said it MIGHT snow, not it WOULD snow … and technically some backwater town three people live in got 6 inches!”).

Screw me 86 times, anyone?

Rex, you know I’m an avid reader and fan, I follow you on Twitter and such… But your recent tweets and posts make you sound like a weather-obsessed geezer… what gives man? feel free to tell me to fuck off but man you sound like those 90 y/o farts watching the weather channel all day…

Yeah too bad it didn’t snow as much as they forecasted. We got a quarter of an inch in ID maybe? Hey pipedude if you come to Seattle you’d understand why it’s a big deal. It doesn’t snow tons here so when it does or is supposed to, we get worked up and excited. Rex you should check out the view from the needle before the powder melts. I may go with family this weekend but doubt they’ll be any snow left.

I’ve always been a weather buff, and I was starved for it during 5 years in the desert. I guess I’m making up for lost time.

Don’t knock The Weather Channel. They have ads for quality products like those tubs you can walk into. I like weather, too, although I usually enjoy precipitation from my living room.

  4. Couple years ago it snowed in Las Vegas. How soon you forget…

Pipeguy, I think you are missing the point. People in other parts of the world may not get it but right now the news in Seattle is the weather. If you go to a Seattle blog or a Seattle news site during a snow event then that is going to be the main story. It is all that has been on TV news for the last 3 days.

  6. But at least all the grocery stores sold through the inventory of water, eggs, milk, and bread. Still some beer left at a few.

I didn’t go to a big grocery store, but I got some milk, bread, and juice at the City Market (Bellevue & Olive) on my way home yesterday, and was surprised that they were really well stocked with everything.

Either the Market over-prepared, or residents of the Hill yawned off the storm from the outset.
